Yes!  I'm serious!  laugh  This really is about software that might help our parents.

Magnifying Glass Pro

I'm tossing this out because a lot of us are in the same general age range, and some of our parents are computer geeks just like us.  ;)  My parents entered the 'computer age' a number of years ago, and they both use it quite a bit.  But my father's eyes are aging (whose aren't) and he gets very frustrated when he can't read the tiny print on certain dialogue boxes.

I found this chunk of software for him.  It's NOT free.  It costs $25.00, but I think it's going to be worth it.  I turned off most of the functions, and adjusted the default box that pops up, and I've come up with a good sized rectangle that he can turn on and off in a snap if he needs to read something small on the screen.  It's simple and seems to work quickly and effectively.

Hey, cool!  Of course, that could help ME sometimes, LOL!  I'm still okay if I've got glasses on, but if I can't wear my glasses for some reason, I can't focus....

I do have a mouse that has a magnifying function, but it's sometimes difficult to control, and it doesn't work well if I'm on AOL. (Grumble, grumble, yes, I know, I should ditch AOL, but I'm so used to it, and I really, really don't want to change my e-mail address....)

It's only $25, and it's got a lot of different functions.  I've shut a number of them down for my parents in order to keep it simple to use, but I may wind up purchasing a copy for myself because it's so flexible.

Well, do let me know your experience with it.  It sounds like something I might like to have!  :)

I've already downloaded it to my computer as a test, and I like it.  I did a little tweaking to get it to behave in a way that I consider intuitive (larger magnified box, change the cursor, etc).

It gives you a 30-day trial if you want to play around with it.  I'm not sure I have $25 worth of need though.  dunno

I haven't tried to uninstall it to see if it comes out 'clean'.  You might want to wait until I give that a whirl.  It comes with an "uninstall" option though, so I'm assuming there won't be a problem.
