To be perfectly honest   (;D)  the true inspiration for this fic was Lee's "Take Two".  and Donna said something to me this weekend about my Derry-fic that I've always thought of Lee's stuff:  there's a baby in it, but the fic isn't about the baby.  So, in my mind, it's not technically baby-fic.   ;D

So, I was walking the dog (hee!) and I was watching a mom and dad and their kid in their side yard; and before Junior could make a mess of something or other, Mom picks hid up by the overall straps and hands Kid to Dad... and I was thinking, "Damn, that could be John and Aeryn"... so, lo an behold, Derry-fic was born.

Had to think long and hard on the kid's name; had alredy decided the kid would be a girl.  Decided the name had to be something that John could get a lot of mileage out of in the nickname department, and not a typical kid's name.  Maybe someday I will write two other fics:  where Aeryn first sees the name, and why the name is special to Pilot.   ;D (yes, they are rattling around in my brain).

Not entirely happy with the flow of this story, though.  I will be honest with that.  Much too wordy.  But I LOVE the idea of the kid inheriting Pilot DNA from Aeryn.
