), and my husband said I should write a letter from Aeryn.... ("Writing makes me feel better.")
Well, that sounded a lot more intersting than the letter I STILL haven't written, so....basically unbetaed (except I did make my hubby laugh) is a holiday bragging letter from Aeryn Sun-Crichton.....

Dear Friends,
It’s been a few cycles since we were all together on Moya, and I’ve decided to use the occasion of the Sebacean Mid-winter Purification Rite to bring you all up to date with our family. (In an effort to give my children some cultural history beyond that which I was taught in the Peacekeepers, I have acquired several studies on the Breakaway Colonies. The history is really quite fascinating, considering there are very few battles involved, and their Mid-winter Purification Rite has become a family favorite!)
As both the Peacekeepers and the Scarrans still maintain an unhealthy interest in John, we have chosen not to settle on a planet, where we would be more easily spied upon (I’m much happier in space anyway, so I didn’t argue with John about the decision). John continues to rebuild his wormhole knowledge, and he assures me it is going very well. If he continues making progress at this rate, we may actually be able to take the children to Earth to visit their human relatives sometime next cycle! It is really remarkable when you remember how hard John struggled to learn about wormholes back in the old days! I’m looking forward to getting properly acquainted with John’s family (which should have happened the
last time we were on Earth, but didn’t, no thanks to
you, Noranti!).
Most of my duties revolve around keeping our family safe, of course. We’ve acquired a Marauder this last cycle, which is my pride and joy! No Scarran or Peacekeeper will get past me! It’s a weight off my shoulders to have the new ship, as my old prowler had become extremely outdated.
Young D’Argo is four cycles old now. He’s grown up so fast! For his last birthday, he got his very first pulse pistol, scaled down to fit his hands. I am very proud to tell you that he is an excellent marksman already! He is only allowed to use a chakan oil cartridge on special occasions, but he has done considerable damage to his targets with a practice charge. He is also – and you may find this hard to credit – very fond of any and all “critters” that he comes across in his explorations of the ship. You don’t want to know what else we were sharing Moya with back in the old days!
Little Hope is eight months old. She has recently begun to walk. John always says it gives him the willies to see how fast a half-Sebacean child matures compared to a full human one. I tell him that’s only to be expected, as the genetic modifications in a soldier such as myself include having one’s offspring be dependent upon one for as short a time as possible. But I digress. Hope adores Pilot. I believe she has inherited some of my Pilot DNA. She is happiest in his den (We child-proofed the walkways when D’Argo was a baby), chattering to the DRDs, or sitting on the console, following Pilot’s every move. She has already learned to open the docking bay doors!
Well, I think I’ve talked long enough. Pilot sends his love, and Moya’s!
Hopefully, we’ll see you all one day soon.
